Shield & Shadow Program:
Honoring Service Through Legacy

A Legacy of Loyalty — One Hero, One Doberman, Every Year

Our Mission

The Shield & Shadow Program was created to honor the remarkable bond between the Doberman and those who protect and serve. Throughout history, the Doberman has been a steadfast companion to military and law enforcement — fearless, loyal, and unwavering in their devotion. This program is our family’s way of giving back to the heroes who embody those same values.

Each year, Campbell’s Family Dobermans will gift a first-pick puppy from one of our litters to a deserving service member, veteran, or police officer. This is more than a donation — it’s a living tribute to courage, loyalty, and the unspoken connection between protector and protector. Through this act, we aim to continue the Doberman’s historic role as both shield and shadow to those who dedicate their lives to the safety of others.

How It Works

Once a year, we open a 14-day application window for the Shield & Shadow Program. During this time, eligible applicants are invited to share their story, service background, and how a Doberman companion would impact their life.

After submissions close, our family personally reviews every application and narrows it down to 10 outstanding finalists. Their stories are then shared with our online community, where followers have the opportunity to vote and help select the final recipient.

Eligibility Requirements

To honor the program’s mission and maintain the highest standard of placement, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Must be active duty or retired military personnel, law enforcement, or a veteran with an honorable or general discharge (no dishonorable discharge).

    • Must be a U.S. resident, 21 years of age or older.

    • Must have stable housing and the ability to provide long-term care for a Doberman, including time, space, and financial means for training and veterinary care.

    • Must have no record of animal abuse or neglect.

    • Must be willing to provide proof of service and proof of home stability or veterinary reference upon request.

Program Guidelines

Because the Shield & Shadow Program reflects our family’s values of responsibility and connection, recipients must also agree to:

  • Complete a short application essay or video sharing their story and what this opportunity means to them.

  • Participate in the public voting phase by allowing their story to be shared on our social platforms, helping our community connect with their journey.

  • Abide by Campbell’s Family Dobermans placement contract, including spay/neuter policy, proper care standards, and no unauthorized breeding.

  • Remain in contact with our family through periodic updates and photos, allowing the legacy of their Doberman to inspire others.

  • Travel or arrange transport to Campbell’s Family Dobermans for puppy pickup (details discussed with the chosen recipient).

Our Promise

Every chosen recipient becomes part of our extended Campbell’s Family — a lifelong connection built on trust, respect, and shared values. This isn’t just about gifting a puppy; it’s about honoring legacy, recognizing service, and passing on the unmatched loyalty that only a Doberman can give.
